Speech on Hanakhat Even HaPina by Mayor of Sderot, Alon Davidi
The Benei Menashe community which comprises 120 houses today prayed for nine years in a caravan without bomb shelter in Natan Elbaz 23, which was given temporarily by the late former minister of religion Rabbi Aryeh Gamliel.
In the year, 2020 Mayor Alon Davidi visited the community and promised that he would give the community a site for a synagogue. Two years since, On Rosh Chodesh Elul, Rabbi David Lhungdim, the Rabbi of the Bnei Menashe community of Sderot received a phone call from Edward, the Assistant of the Mayor that the community will receive a synagogue as promised by the Mayor, it was a good tiding for the whole community.
1)Hanakhat Even HaPina - Mayor of Sderot, Alon Davidi & Rabbi David Lhungdim
2) Assistant of Mayor Edward & Shamash Beit HaKenneset Alfei Menashe, Ezra Suantak
As the Mayor promised the community celebrated the event of "Hanakhat even Ha Pina" on September 12, 2023, with the Mayor and his assistant, Edward, and soon afterward, the community was notified of an unexpected announcement from the Mayor that the community would begin their Yom Kippur services at the new allocated place and in addition he promised that a new comfortable Synagogue will be built alongside the new building which the community received. It felt like a dream when the community saw the display board on which it was written "Here will be built a synagogue for the Bnei Menashe community of Sderot".
On the 6th of Tishrei (21/09/23), the municipality sent a truck to move the community property, and indeed as promised by the Mayor, the community started praying Shabbath and Yom Kippur services in the newly allocated place.
Our fervent prayer for the Mayor of Sderot Alon Davidi, may the almighty G-d of Israel grant him a long successful life with pleasure from all his offspring until the end of days.
